Episode 105: NYDSW, Coffee and Controversy, the DSF and more – Good Times with Brian McClimans, Rich Ventura and Frank Pisano

This episode is sponsored by: Peerless-AV (www.peerless-av.com)

Join the Crew host Corey Moss, Kaleo Lee and new member Kasie Grant as they welcome:

Brian McClimans – VP Sales, North America and APAC at Peerless-AV
Rich Ventura – Vice President of Strategic Management at NEC Display Solutions of America, Inc.
Frank Pisano – VP of Sales, Americas at BrightSign LLC

The show begins with the introduction of new Crew member Kasie Grant (she works for Baker AV in Georgia), who joins Corey and Kaleo on this one. Corey begins talking with Brian about Peerless-AV and New York Digital Signage Week as the company is a sponsor of NYDSW. The conversation then focuses on Coffee and Controversy, taking place on October 30th – an event in its 4th year.

Brian continues discussion with more of a deep dive about NYDSW, and talks about partnerships as well. Frank talks about the digital signage industry ecosystem and the community – along with why people need to be doing more in digital signage. Kasie adds to this discussion too. Frank also discusses this being his first year at BrightSign. Rich and Brian next talk about the long-time NEC Display Solutions and Peerless-AV relationship.

All talk about the Almo E4 AV Tour coming up in Nashville which the three companies are a part of. Rich also talks about the “easy button” relationship concerning devices designed to work well together, here referring to BrightSign and Peerless-AV.

Frank talks about BrightSign and NYDSW, along with a special event the company is having Halloween night (listen for the “dress code”). He and Corey talk about the trips they’ll be taking to the NEC Showcase in New York, the Almo E4 AV Tour in Nashville and back to NY for NYDSW. And there’s a discussion of an AV first aid recovery kit.

Rich talks about the Digital Signage Federation, the digital signage industry, NYDSW and other shows from the perspective of his being the Chairman of the DSF. Frank talks about a recent trip to Barcelona, where digital signage was recognized by AVIXA as one of two growth categories.

All end the show with final thoughts.

So, on InfoComm exhibitor Episode 81 we had AV Life, and Bacon Life. On this episode, along with AV Life we get Bourbon Life – yet on the previous episode there was talk of bourbon too.

So, if you add 1 and 1, you’ll get 2 episodes of The AV Life that give you 3 AV favorites: bacon, bourbon — and great exhibitors.

Call it the #NewAVMath.

Listen as all of the guests on this show talk about what their companies will be doing at InfoComm 2018.

Laura kicks things off on this one, followed by Dana and Pippa and the others (after an initial check on the ‘Bourbon Room’). There are periodic checks on the Room during the show, specifically to find out exactly what two close industry friends are doing in there.

Will there be any “scoop drops” (again, the Katye McGregor Bennett kind) on this one? Maybe? OK, so we really need to develop that bacon concept from Episode 81.

At the end of the show, the guests play the “lightening round” – make sure to stick around to check it out.

There’s mention of InfoComm Karaoke, and what will Rich and Brian be singing? Right – heaven help us.

That’s all! Sit back, plug in and we’ll see you at InfoComm 2018 where you’ll be sure to get a shot of…
