Join the Crew host Corey Moss, Kym Frank, Tim Van Woeart and Maura Quinn as the welcome their guests:
Joe Way – It’s OK, he’s a doctor (and shameless promoter)
Michelle Loret – Putting the GMO in a non-GMO podcast
Renee Benson – She takes the 5th, and the 7th
George Fournier – Please return him to 1998 (you’ll find out why)
(It’s been almost 6 months since all left the AV Road House, which was believed to be for good…)
Some on the show are ready to head right to InfoComm, and the others are looking forward to the detour.
Actually, it’s 7 against 1 – Road Trip!
First, all talk tweakers after someone had been asking about them on Twitter. For those picking them up at InfoComm, make sure you donate a few to The AV Life, Kym needs to know exactly what a tweaker is in the AV industry. Check out this discussion.
A question to start this off – where should InfoComm really be held?
Answer – Orlando and Las Vegas.
See, that was easy.
Though there’s the question of this place you’ll find in Orlando that kids and adults love all the same. Polling is already underway to hold InfoComm in the Magic Kingdom in two years. There’s (the yet to be approved) NonComm West, make sure you contact Maura about that.
And as all re-enter the Road House, where the Impossible Burger will NOT be served –
A few articles to discuss (just like the good old times):
The “I’ll take 100 containers of ranch dressing with my un-assembled sandwich and extra, extra, extra crispy bacon” dept.
USA Today – Ranch with my milkshake: Uber Eats sheds light on weirdest delivery requests
So go ahead, order the weirdest combination of things you can ever imagine on Uber Eats, just be careful when asking for tweakers. Again, that Kym conversation.
The “When Ikea and the tiny home go to the robots” dept.
Futurism – Ikea Wants to Sell You Robotic Furniture for Your Tiny Apartment
Sure, we know – robotic everything at this point. So what the heck, go to Ikea and buy some robotic furniture for your tiny home. It comes in half a million pieces, and if you end up with an extra robot or two, you’ve probably done it right.
Oh, and make sure you get a side of Ikea Biodegradable Packaging Tasty Lab-Grown Meats to go with your milkshake and ranch dressing. And box wine.
The “Robots, kids and illness – time to go home!” dept.
Futurism – This Robot Scans Preschoolers’ Faces Daily for Signs of Sickness
Walklake. What? Dr. Way explains, and if you’re still scratching your head – you’re by no means alone. But it’s finally about getting these &^$* kids out of school if they’re sick. Yet, they’re now going to come home and make sure you get sick (nice plan sending them off to make the other kids sick). Total lose lose situation now for you the parents. Then Maura brings up a great point about brainscans and potential issues. Who’s really the doctor here?? And then Michelle “redlists” herself. Check this out.
Then after some shoutouts to podcasters who will be at InfoComm, if you still don’t feel like you’re fully back in the Road House, we go right to the segment that began there in the first place…
The “If it’s ok for AV people to wake up and share on Twitter, what’s the problem here?” dept.
Futurism – US Gov Now Collecting Social Media Handles of Visa Applicants
In the Firing Range – before they can enter the United States, visa applicants will now need to let the government know what they’ve been up to on social media. That’s OK, because the industry trade association is watching us every time we put out a social media post – yet, they still let us come to InfoComm.
Who wins and who loses here? Let’s just say two people who have never been on the same side before run the risk of losing for the first time. If that makes any sense.
Just remember, and never forget – once you enter the Road House, you can never leave. Just like trying to check out of the AV industry…
This podcast is rated M for Michelle. And all we can say about Michelle and her vernacular — whoops.
Sit back, plug in, get in the back of the pickup (right, just get in) and join us on the final ride before hot and sweaty Orlando as we live…
The AV Life.
