So, on InfoComm exhibitor Episode 81 we had AV Life, and Bacon Life. On this episode, along with AV Life we get Bourbon Life – yet on the previous episode there was talk of bourbon too.

So, if you add 1 and 1, you’ll get 2 episodes of The AV Life that give you 3 AV favorites: bacon, bourbon — and great exhibitors.

Call it the #NewAVMath.

Listen as all of the guests on this show talk about what their companies will be doing at InfoComm 2018.

Laura kicks things off on this one, followed by Dana and Pippa and the others (after an initial check on the ‘Bourbon Room’). There are periodic checks on the Room during the show, specifically to find out exactly what two close industry friends are doing in there.

Will there be any “scoop drops” (again, the Katye McGregor Bennett kind) on this one? Maybe? OK, so we really need to develop that bacon concept from Episode 81.

At the end of the show, the guests play the “lightening round” – make sure to stick around to check it out.

There’s mention of InfoComm Karaoke, and what will Rich and Brian be singing? Right – heaven help us.

That’s all! Sit back, plug in and we’ll see you at InfoComm 2018 where you’ll be sure to get a shot of…

The AV Life.

Episode 78: Time to Power it Up on the Road to InfoComm 2018!

Join the Crew host Corey Moss, Katye McGregor Bennett and Michelle Loret as they welcome their guests;

Adrian Doughty – National Sales Manager at Nureva
Gina Sansivero – Director of Business Development, Education at FSR
Marika Aquino – Managing Partner at Tier PM

We dedicate this podcast, a show about AV, and life – along with this special episode – to the greatest people in any technology stratosphere… the #AVtweeps.

Corey talks about why this is a special episode of the show, and how Katye has been an important part of this ‘The AV Life’ podcast journey as well.  Michelle has been a very important part of the show as well since she joined at the end of January.

And Gina won a Convergent AV Radio award – announced on this show! You’ll hear all about it.

The InfoComm 2018 discussion begins with Adrian talking about Nureva and all – or should we say most – that is going on for InfoComm (and there’s more award winner talk involving our PR Ninja…). Corey also asks Adrian to talk about President and CEO Nancy Knowlton and her leadership, along with discussion of the company and their growth (Corey mentions a recent interview with Nancy on Convergent Tech Talk).  Corey talks about how Nancy is a woman in AV who all in the industry need to know.  Adrian also discusses the “collaboration discussion” in the industry along with how Nureva differentiates.

Marika talks about Tier PM, a leading recruiter in AV and IT, what they do in terms of recruiting in the industry, and what they will be doing at InfoComm. Corey asks Marika to talk about her background before she joined the AV industry, as well as how Marika has been recognized in the industry. Marika also mentions where they will be at the show.

Gina discusses her special award, and then talks about what FSR is doing for InfoComm, (as well as UBTech) – specifically furniture. There’s also discussion about Jan Sandri, President at FSR, Inc. (and another great Woman in AV) in terms of how the company has continued to grow and innovate, and Gina mentions how Jan talks about family and “staying true to their roots.”

Next, Corey talks with all about the InfoComm Reception and Networking events. Tier PM is a sponsor of the AVIXA Women’s Council Breakfast (Marika talks about it) and FSR is a sponsor of the Tech Managers Reception (Gina talks about this).

Nureva is a global partner and sponsor of the TIDE Conference and Adrian discusses this.

And then finally… FREE BEER!

There’s free beer at InfoComm! This discussion actually leads to a more interesting discussion with all on the show. Tune in for this one.

Will Curran – Founder, Chief Einstein at Endless Events LLC (and host of #EventIcons podcast)
Amar Bakshi – Founder, Creator at Shared_Studios
Wallace Johnson – Managing Director at WLJ Consulting, LLC (and host of The LIVE Life podcast)

That’s The AV Life.

After introduction of the guests (along with Bella), Corey discusses live events with Will, Wallace and Brittney (who is the new live events host of The AV Life) all who are live events professionals. Will talks about his company Endless Events, and how companies can do what Endless does with video content (his presentation at Center Stage). Will refers to his podcast which will also be talked about a little later in the show. Wallace then talks about live events as it’s been a part of his life for quite some time, and he talks about the industry in terms of emerging technologies (AR and VR) translating to live events and content creation.

Brittney discusses emerging technologies in the space, along with creating and augmenting the live events experience. She focuses on events and mobile devices, along with leveraging these devices as a first screen. Amar talks about Shared_Studios and discusses their portals at sites around the world along with events, with AV and other technologies for their distributed spaces around the world. Bella gets in on the discussion as she was involved in live events at her high school, and she also talks about attending a recent AVIXA Women’s Council event in DC Metro.

During the usual mid-show conversation, Michelle talks about AV industry reach, leading to a discussion about bringing young people like Bella into the industry. Wallace details AVIXA programs for schools, and gives some advice here too. Brittney, Michelle, Will and Amar talk about creating internships.

Next, all talk about InfoComm 2018 Center Stage – Amar begins by highlighting his discussion (on June 6th) Using Videoconferencing to Connect Learning Communities, along with more about their portals and AV. Will then talks about his discussion (on June 8th) Innovators in Online Video Content Creation Reveal the Secrets to Compulsively Watchable Content, creating better video content, along with value creation.

Finally, Will and Wallace talk about their industry podcasts (along with the Crew) – make sure you give them a listen.

Sit back, plug in, and join us for an enlightening discussion about live events, emerging tech, young people in tech, and one of the big events to see at InfoComm as we live…

Episode 76: AVIXA Women and the Success of the DMV Group March Madness Event, Women and Men in Sales/Working in Manufacturing vs. Integration, and InfoComm 18

Join Corey (Moss) and Cory (Schaeffer) as they co-host this one along with returning (for one night only) Crew member Taylor Meyer as they welcome their guests:

Megan Riddle – Regional Sales Manager, Mid-Atlantic at Planar
Brad Orme – Regional Sales Manager, Mid-Atlantic at Planar
Alexis LaBrois – Systems Consultant at Avitecture, inc.
Scott Durham – Enterprise System Consultant at Yorktel

The first Corey/Cory co-hosted ‘The AV Life’ show focuses on an AVIXA Women’s Council event in DC Metro put together by the DMV Group – Megan Riddle and Alexis La Broi are leaders of the group (and put this event together), and other great AV women in the area are a part of it. Corey was at the event and detailed it on Convergent AV – here is a picture of some of the women in attendance (including Heidi Voorhees and Amanda Eberle Boyer with AVIXA).

Brad Orme was there of course as he works for Planar (and also helped Megan with the planning) and Scott Durham was one of the men in attendance. All of the guests begin talking about what they do which leads to an interesting conversation about working in integration vs manufacturing (for Megan, Brad and Alexis who have been on both sides), and Brad also talks about the advantage of having the Planar showroom in VA – where the event took place – for integrators and end users. Scott also talks about keys being the demo for the customer, as well as the integrator’s relationship with the vendor. Cory adds to this in terms of some end user specified project timelines and expectations impacting both integrator and manufacturer.  And of course, Taylor Meyer talks robotics and how this can be of help for the manufacturers.

Next came discussion of the March Madness event, and Megan and Alexis talk about putting the event together – coordination, inviting the guests, and why it took place at March Madness time. Cory talks about the mission of the Council meetings and events, the connections that are made at them, and even business getting done. Cory also talks about the AVIXA Women’s Breakfast at InfoComm. Megan also discusses women in sales and engineering and their impact on the industry through the AVIXA Women’s Council. Alexis also talks about a young woman who attended the event who is looking for a career in AV (her name is Bella, she is front row, far right in the picture). Scott also talks about the AVIXA Women’s Council and events. Alexis also talks about the next event coming up with Integrate Baltimore.

Finally, all talk about InfoComm and what they are expecting at the show (and something about a shoe game at AVIXA).

Sit back, plug in and enjoy our third AVIXA Women’s episode with some of the great women and men in the industry as we live…
