So, on InfoComm exhibitor Episode 81 we had AV Life, and Bacon Life. On this episode, along with AV Life we get Bourbon Life – yet on the previous episode there was talk of bourbon too.

So, if you add 1 and 1, you’ll get 2 episodes of The AV Life that give you 3 AV favorites: bacon, bourbon — and great exhibitors.

Call it the #NewAVMath.

Listen as all of the guests on this show talk about what their companies will be doing at InfoComm 2018.

Laura kicks things off on this one, followed by Dana and Pippa and the others (after an initial check on the ‘Bourbon Room’). There are periodic checks on the Room during the show, specifically to find out exactly what two close industry friends are doing in there.

Will there be any “scoop drops” (again, the Katye McGregor Bennett kind) on this one? Maybe? OK, so we really need to develop that bacon concept from Episode 81.

At the end of the show, the guests play the “lightening round” – make sure to stick around to check it out.

There’s mention of InfoComm Karaoke, and what will Rich and Brian be singing? Right – heaven help us.

That’s all! Sit back, plug in and we’ll see you at InfoComm 2018 where you’ll be sure to get a shot of…

The AV Life.

Episode 60: Kicking Off the New Year with Video, Collaboration, Podcasting and More

Join the Crew Corey Moss, Katye McGregor Bennett and new member Jared Huet as they kick off the new year and welcome their guests:

Derek Pando – Product Marketer and International Growth at Zoom
Tammy Jackson – Vice President Marketing & Communications at Sonic Foundry (on call-in)

After a brief 2017 shows interlude (and some of the usual banter – including re-announcing the Holiday Show prize winners), Corey, after talking about some industry news, begins discussion with Tammy about Sonic Foundry Mediasite – the platform and trends including active classroom/active learning in higher ed, conversations with people at Sonic Foundry – one recently about Wainhouse Research and adoption of video streaming in the healthcare industry, and higher ed lecture capture and video management use case. Tammy also adds her view in terms of trends in video for 2018.

Corey, a Zoom videoconference user and podcaster for several years now, then begins discussion with Derek talking about Zoom, the leading videoconferencing platform, and also talks about CEO Eric Yuan and his customer happiness approach. Derek talks about a partnership and Zoom’s accelerated growth including opening new global offices. Jared, whose company Curago Technologies in Dublin, Ireland is a Zoom reseller and integrator, then talks to Derek about Zoom user growth as well as Zoom Rooms and the great benefit of the ease of use. He also talks about Zoom Rooms, iPads, and Zoom comparison to using Skype for Business. Corey then discusses Zoom partnerships with Derek, and Jared talks about some features as well as integrator recurring revenue.

Katye then gives her thoughts about Zoom as a user along with being Corey’s podcast partner since Jan. 2016 using Zoom as the platform. Derek wrote a blog about Zoom and podcasting and Corey and Katye discuss this with him. He talks about some of the podcast shows that use Zoom as well as finding out about some of the equipment that they use.

There’s videoconferencing and collaboration trends discussion here too. Sit back, plug in and enjoy the first episode of 2018!

Episode 59: Holiday Party Edition II – Bringing a Year of AV Cheer (Part 2)

Make sure you listen to Part 1!

Join co-hosts Corey Moss, Katye McGregor Bennett, Megan Powers and George (Santa) Fournier as they welcome their guests for the second annual holiday episode on The AV Life.

We continue the show with group three:

Keith Yanke – Sr. Director Product Marketing at NEC Display Solutions
Maria McKinsey – Director of Business Development at Brown Innovations
Bill Cherne – Sales Engineering Manager at Sonic Foundry – Mediasite

Megan Powers takes over hosting this group and begins talking with her social marketing co-host on ‘Making a Marketer’ on what’s going on in her world. Maria is next taking about what Brown Innovations does and some examples of the markets that they’re working in, projects as well as the experience including their partnership with NEC. Keith follows up by talking about working with Brown Innovations as well as the experience. Bill discusses working with higher ed with lecture capture and global expansion, video and he also talks about conferences and the corporate space.

The show closes with group four:

Jon 9 – CEO at Holonyne Corporation
Marika Aquino – Managing Partner at Tier PM AV/IT Workforce Solutions
Elaine Shuck – Director, Communication & Development at i2i Technologies

Corey hosts the final group on the show and begins talking with Jon 9 about VIRTULARIUM® – he discusses what’s taking place now, talks about his partnership with NEC and Green Hippo, and using multi-image technology as a storytelling device (and details this technology project as well). Jon also talks about his new development in video wall programming, a combination of hardware and software, which he hopes to bring to InfoComm this year. Along with this, he talks about starting a non-profit foundation to bring video wall technology to education and arts institutions.

Next Corey talks about first getting to know Elaine along with education, which is a big part of her technology career. She talks about working with students in the U.S. to connect with other students across the world (Ghana for one), and how they will use technology in the future. She also mentions two teachers in Alaska who have done very big things with videoconferencing. Marika finishes the show talking about Tier PM and what the company does that has set them apart from other recruiters in AV/IT, along with her background in the IT industry. Corey and Marika talk about how they met, how they’ve worked together in podcasting and have been doing the Hot Jobs for all that time.

Sit back, plug in and have a very happy holiday!
