Finally, as in episode 114, all provide inspirational messages for the new year – make sure you catch this.

Bill Cherne – Director of Field Engineering at Sonic Foundry Inc.

Penny Sitler – Marketing Manager at Draper, Inc.

On this part one all guests begin with introductions, talk about what they do, as well as their their companies – Maura talks about being newer to the industry and Linda talks about what she does which is not quite AV (but we do give her an industry role of sorts). There is also discussion of the user experience, and 2018 innovation and trends.

Episode 70: Time to Power Up Women Across the AV Industry and Continue to Grow the AVIXA Women’s Council Groups

Join the Crew host Corey Moss, Katye McGregor Bennett, Michelle Loret and Lauren Larson as they welcome their guests (with the regional groups they head up):

Brandy Alvarado – rp Visual Solutions (Southern California), Cory Schaeffer – QSC (Southern California), Christy Ricketts – Contemporary Research (Dallas with Lauren), Gina Sansivero – FSR, Inc. (New York City), Erica Carroll – Atlona (Atlanta), Debbie Williamson – Tempest Technologies (Seattle), Penny Sitler – Draper, Inc. (Chair of the AVIXA Women’s Council – who joined in progress).

After each of the guests introduce themselves (and the women who are Crew members do too), Brandy starts the show by talking about AVIXA Women and the groups across the country. Cory talks about how she would like to continue to see more groups form across the country, and see more women in tech positions in the industry. Erica talks about being a qualified woman in tech in the industry, and having to prove herself at times (an old story already).

Lauren talks about a recent event that took place in Dallas where Christy was the speaker for the evening. Christy talks about the AV community there as well as the group’s foundation, along with two of the women in the group – one who just passed her CTS and another who has a CTS-D. She also talked about one of the men who attended (and supports their efforts), and the others talk about this too.

Katye discusses how women should present themselves professionally, on LinkedIn especially, Cory and Christy also talk about updating professional profiles. Christy also talks about the Career Empowerment Alliances. Gina talks about helping to start up the Boston group, along with what’s taking place in the New York area (and an event that is planned). Penny talks about all of the women who are involved and how proud she is of their efforts, as well as her role as the Chair of the Council. Debbie talks about the group in Seattle and an event that took place with women in different industry roles attending.

Cory gives a call to action about the AVIXA 2018 Women in AV Award. Erica also gives the group a great statement, Christy and Brandy discuss it too – and Penny talks about the importance of getting credentials. Michelle, Lauren and Katye end the show with “the real deal.”

Episode 59: Holiday Party Edition II – Bringing a Year of AV Cheer (Part 1)

(See episode with pictures on convergentav.net)

Join co-hosts Corey Moss, Katye McGregor Bennett, Megan Powers and George (Santa) Fournier as they welcome their guests for the second annual holiday episode on The AV Life.

The guests joined in four separate groups, here in Part 1 you’ll hear those in groups one and two.

In group one we have:
Randy Pagnan – President/Owner, and Brandy Alvarado – Marketing and Business Development Manager at rp Visual Solutions
Penny Sitler – Marketing Manager at Draper, Inc.
Adrian Doughty – National Sales Manager at Nureva
Apryl Lamberti – Director of Business Development – Hospitality at Almo Professional A/V

Corey hosts the first group as Adrian Doughty begins by talking about some of the big things taking place with Nureva, Randy and Brandy (who were re-named for the show) talk about the business as well as a recent big project, Apryl Lamberti discusses a number of things happening in Almo Professional A/V’s Hospitality Division, and Penny Sitler talks about some of the big occurrences for Draper, from the rebrand to the launch of their new website. An “unplanned guest” joins in, and the group gets to answer a trivia question about a company that has been in the industry for a very long time.

Group two brought us two InfoComm 2017 Award Winners, 4 CTS-Duals, and a woman who flies drones professionally and may have qualified as a wiring nightmare.

Bill Nattress (CTS-D, CTS-I) – Director of Channel Strategy – Paging at Biamp Systems  (CTS Holder of the Year)
James Maltese (CTS-D, CTS-I) – President at Audio Visual Resources  (Educator of the Year)
Paul Zielie (CTS-D, CTS-I) – Manager, Enterprise Solutions at Harman Professional
Jake Corlett (CTS-D, CTS-I) – Regional Manager – North Central at Biamp Systems
Christina Engh – COO at UAS Solutions Group

Katye takes over hosting group two (after keeping her dog Jackson from grabbing her antlers) talking with all about how they are, what they’re doing and why Christina is dressed the way she is. Last year’s ugly sweater winner Jake Corlett decided to let someone else win this year. Paul talks about what he had to leave to join all on the show, James might be looking to go for the contest wins, and brings a very good AV and data conversation to the show. Bill discusses how he’s winding down for the year, and talks wine and music too. A true AV and drones trivia question for this group, listen in.

Sit back, plug in, and enjoy Part 1 of The AV Life holiday show!
